Review :
I don`t know why it`s taken me so long to get around to writing a review of this movie - I saw it when it first hot theaters after all. I guess my inertia was due to the simple fact that I neither like it nor hate it.
Its not a bad horror movie by any means. There are some real scary scenes in it and there are touches of honest to god artistry in the cinematography. I don`t want to take that away from this movie - its basically a good movie.
And I like that fact that this movie has brought back the more animalistic vampire. It`s nice to see that type of vampire in movies as opposed to the kind we have been seeing. I loved "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" - its one of my favorite shows. But the fact is, I recognize the fact that that show essentially neutered the concept of the vampire. When teenage girls start dating them, they aren`t scary (Which tells you what I think of "Twilight", by the way).
But for those of us that grew up before Buffy... well we`ve seen it all before. Not necessarily all these elements put together, true - but there is nothing new here. And so basically I had trouble not being bored by this movie. It`s a good movie - but simply not that new. So I have to give it an average rating for all of it`s good points - because it simply is nothing new.
