I was pulling for this one. It has a talented cast, decent direction, and (let's face it) it's based on one the the masters greatest works (It's "Romeo and Juliet" applied to political campaigns). But in the end, it simply never caught drew me in.
Keaton is always fun, Davis is always pretty and the movie never slows down. It does everything right - but too "right", to the point where it feels like a soulless little story. It goes from one plot point to the next with no real originality and it ends up feeling empty.
It's an average movie - but nothing more. If it's playing on TV, give it a viewing... but don't spend money to watch it. |
